Metro Tunnel Construction
Road Closure -La Trobe Street: 14 - 18 September 2019
Metro Tunnel construction and tunneling for the new State Library station opposite the hotel, have increased which includes some 24hr works and extended hour works, some of which may be noisy. In addition to the change of hours, there are also some road closures surrounding the hotel whilst services are installed on the streets and tram pole relocation.
The hotel has no control over these works and are working hard to ensure there is a minimised impact on our guests, but we would like to be upfront and honest that these works are occurring in close proximity.
If arriving by car, we suggest being dropped off on the corner of Elizabeth and Little La Trobe and walking the 50m up the street to the hotel as there are a lot of nearby road closures.
La Trobe Street scope of works:
Tram pole works will be occuring on La Trobe Street between Saturday 14 to Wednesday 18 September between 8pm-6am. The La Trobe Street eastbound lane between Elizabeth and Swanston Street will be closed to motorists during these works. The northern La Trobe Street footpath and dedicated eastbound bicycle lane will also remain closed during these works. This will generate medium level noise.
If required, oversized trucks will be used between 1-5am from Thursday 12 September to Monday 16 September.
Micropiling will occur from 7am-10pm from Monday 16 September until mid-October and will generate medium to high levels of noise.
Installation of cages and grout will generate low levels of noise occuring from 10pm-7am from Monday 16 September until mid-October.
The site opposite the hotel on La Trobe Street is conducting piling works 7am-6pm daily Monday - Saturday, this work will be ongoing for the remainder of the year which generate a medium to high level of noise between these hours. Concrete pouring will also occur between 6-10pm Monday - Friday and will generate low level noise.
Little La Trobe Street update:
Preparatory works for piling will commence on Little La Trobe Street in early September between 7am-6pm Monday - Saturday. Piling will begin from late September and continue until early 2020. This is expected to generate medium to high levels of noise during these hours.
