Metro Tunnel Construction

Metro Tunnel construction and tunneling for the new State Library station opposite the hotel, have increased which includes some 24hr works and extended hour works, some of which may be noisy.  In addition to the change of hours, there are also some road closures surrounding the hotel whilst services are installed on the streets and tram pole relocation.

The hotel has no control over these works and are working hard to ensure there is a minimised impact on our guests, but we would like to be upfront and honest that these works are occurring in close proximity.

If arriving by car, we suggest being dropped off on the corner of Elizabeth and Little La Trobe and walking the 50m up the street to the hotel as there are a lot of nearby road closures.

La Trobe Street scope of works:

The site opposite the hotel on La Trobe Street is conducting ongoing works 7am-10pm daily Monday - Friday and Saturdays 7am-6pm. These works require will require use of piling rigs, cranes and trucks and are expected to generate medium to high levels of noise.

Little La Trobe Street update:

Piling works are underway at the Little La Trobe Street site and will be ongoing between 7am-6pm Monday - Saturday. Concrete pours and minor works will also take place between 6pm-10pm Monday - Friday as required with low levels of noise. Levelling piles will commence in May using jackhammers and hand tools which is expected to generate high levels of noise.

Installation works of a concrete pump on Swanston Street between La Trobe and Little La Trobe Streets has commenced and will continue throughout May. During this time, the northbound lane will be closed to motorists and vehicles will be allowed access to Little La Trobe Street from Elizabeth Street.

Oversized deliveries from 10pm-7am is ongoing at all sites and will occur intermittently throughout May.
